Bike Lockers

While conventional lockers are rented to one person per locker, eLockers can be accessed by any cyclist with a Bike Link card. This card is pre-purchased and used to access any unoccupied locker. Bike Link eLockers have been installed throughout the Bay Area. For more information, including videos demonstrating how to use the eLockers, go to www.bikelink.org

Bike Stations (Attended Bicycle Parking)

Attended (or valet) bicycle parking is available at select BART and Caltrain stations. The process is straightforward: pick up a ticket, fill out your name and contact number on the valet's portion, and keep the other half. When you're ready to retrieve your bike, simply present your ticket to the valet and collect your bike.

Bike Theft Protection

No one wants to have their bike stolen, but you can greatly reduce your risk by following a few proven strategies:

  • Register your bikeUse Bike Index to register your bike using the world’s largest bike registry. If your bike goes missing, update the index to mark it as stolen or lost.
  • Use a quality U-lock: Always lock your bike with a sturdy U-lock or heavy-duty chain lock. You can supplement with a cable lock, but avoid using them alone as they can be easily cut.
  • Secure it properly: Secure your bike to a fixed, immovable object (like a bike rack or sturdy pole). Lock the U-lock through the bike frame (never just the wheels).
  • Choose visible, well-lit locations: When possible, lock your bike in busy, well-lit areas where thieves are less likely to act.

By taking these steps, you’ll make your bike a much less appealing target for thieves.
